Furagine is an antibacterial agent. It is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative microflora, as well as strains of pathogenic staphylococci and other bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics and other antibacterial agents. Resistance of microorganisms to furagin develops slowly and does not reach a high degree.
Nitrofurans, vol. sk. furagine, inhibits the enzyme systems of microorganisms, as well as inhibits other biochemical processes in the cells of microorganisms, which in turn causes the disruption of the bacterial cell shell or cytoplasmic membrane. Nitrofurans increase the ability of leukocytes to phagocytose microorganisms, promote the formation of granulation. Furagine is effective in the treatment of all types of purulent infections (including external infections). When applied to the skin or mucous membranes, it does not cause pain and irritation.
